Want an early-game way to make some quick money on Hypixel Skyblock? Well you\u2019re in luck. Today, we\u2019ll be showing you how we farm pumpkins and sugarcane in Hypixel Skyblock.<\/p>\n

Why Farm At All?<\/h4>\n

Well, there are a few reasons for why we should farm.<\/p>\n

First, farming is a way for you to get Farming XP. Getting additional farming levels will increase your base HP. You can also level up the\u00a0Farmhand<\/em>\u00a0skill, which allows you to get additional drops from every harvest.<\/p>\n

One level in farming equates to one level in\u00a0farmhand<\/em>.<\/p>\n

Every level of\u00a0farmhand<\/em>\u00a0will increase your chance of getting double drops. At farming I, you have a 4% chance of getting double drops. This increases by 4% for every\u00a0farmhand<\/em>\u00a0level. At level XV (25), you have a 100% chance of getting double drops. At level 26, you have a 100% chance to get a second drop, but you now also have a 4% chance to get a triple drop. So, by farming L (50), you have a 100% chance to get triple drops. Pretty cool right?<\/p>\n

Another reason you should level up your farming a bit is to get extra HP. Here is an HP increasing table:<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n

In total, you can get an extra 192 health from leveling up farming. Not bad.<\/p>\n

Farming also is a decent way to earn money other than farming for\u00a0Summoning Eyes<\/em>.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

What Crop to Farm?<\/h4>\n

Pumpkins are the best crop to farm to level up your farming skill, but don\u2019t make that much money.<\/p>\n

Sugarcane is a good crop to make money, but not as good for farming XP.<\/p>\n

Melons are\u2026 decent. They are a cost-effective way to level up your alchemy skill. You can at least get farming XP by silk touching melons now.<\/p>\n

Make sure to check the prices between the bazaar and the shops. Selling pumpkins to the bazaar is usually a waste, and you should sell it to the shops. You should sell enchanted sugar and enchanted sugarcane to the bazaar, because you\u2019ll earn more money from there than the shops.<\/p>\n

Gathering Materials<\/h4>\n

It\u2019s much more efficient to farm materials on your own island. I would recommend investing some time into building a huge farm. It will pay itself off in the future.<\/p>\n

Dirt<\/h5>\n

One of the biggest things you need in order to start farming is dirt. You can get dirt in two easy ways.<\/p>\n

The quick way would be to go to the Builder Shop in the hub. He\u2019s located behind the Farming Merchant shop.<\/p>\n

Dirt costs you 2 coins per dirt block. Seeing as you can sell pumpkins for 4 coins each and you can sell sugarcane for at least 2 coins each, dirt is relatively inexpensive.<\/p>\n

Note: The builder sells infinite dirt. There is no 640\/day restriction on dirt.<\/em><\/p>\n

Another way to get dirt is through trades. You can farm wheat in the public islands in order to unlock the dirt trade. The trade is unlocked in the Seed Collection I.<\/p>\n

As we can see here, 1 dirt costs 4 seeds. What else are you going to use seeds for?<\/p>\n

Pumpkins and Sugarcane<\/h5>\n

You can get sugarcane from the desert island, which is located behind the farming island.<\/p>\n

From the hub, if you go in this direction (right of map), you will find the farming island. The desert island is located behind, where you can get sugarcane.<\/p>\n

Building the Farms<\/h4>\n

Building takes a really long time. It takes forever to place the blocks.<\/p>\n

Each island is 10\u00d710 chunks, or 160\u00d7160 blocks.<\/p>\n

I would recommend making a one layer of full-width sugarcane farm, and a few layers of full-width pumpkin layers.<\/p>\n

Here\u2019s a close-up of what each row of sugarcane should look like.<\/p>\n

Sugarcane needs to be placed next to water. It also does not grow any faster on sand or on dirt. So, I would recommend dirt because it\u2019s cheaper and because you don\u2019t need to place a block under it. Sand is more expensive and requires you to place a block under it for the sand to stay up.<\/p>\n

We place stone bricks above the water so that it\u2019s quicker for us to farm sugarcane. I\u2019ll explain that in the \u201cHarvesting the farms\u201d section.<\/p>\n

Here\u2019s what the final design should look like:

When building pumpkins, you want to do something similar with sugarcane. You don\u2019t actually have to place the water for the pumpkins to grow, but water does indeed make the pumpkins grow back faster. We would recommend you getting a magical water bucket for placing all the water. You can unlock it in Ice Collection 5, or buy it for really cheap on the Auction House.<\/p>\n

If you want to build a melon layer too, then build it the exact same way as the pumpkin layer, but replace the pumpkin seeds with melon seeds.<\/p>\n

They do need light to grow, so make sure to place enough.<\/p>\n

Preparing the Harvesting Tools<\/h4>\n

To harvest the sugarcane, I would recommend using a Rookie Hoe to do it. You can purchase the Rookie Hoe for 10 coins from the Farming Merchant. We use a Rookie Hoe because it has a 50% chance to drop an extra seed. Not particularly useful for Sugarcane or Pumpkins, as you don’t get any extra drops. However, if you decide to use the hoe for harvesting other things, might as well have the 50% buff, right?<\/p>\n

I would recommend enchanting it with Harvesting 5 on the enchanting table if you have extra levels. Otherwise, just craft it. It\u2019s unlocked in the Wheat Collection II.<\/p>\n

Then, visit Rusty The Villager located in the Gold Mines to put Telekenesis onto the hoe. Telekenesis is very important to harvesting sugarcane, because it allows you to do something very special.<\/p>\n

Finally, I would recommend getting one of the Personal Compactor Talismans (4000\/5000\/6000). They essentially double your farming speed, since you spend half the time crafting the sugar into the enchanted variant.<\/p>\n

You can unlock these compactors in Redstone Collection 9, 11, and 13. I would recommend getting at\u00a0least<\/em> the 4000. It’s well worth the investment.<\/p>\n

Next, you should prepare an axe to break the pumpkins. If you\u2019re harvesting melons, make sure to put silk touch on the axe, as it will increase your output.<\/p>\n

Since tools in Hypixel Skyblock are unbreakable, you can just use a Golden Axe. A Diamond Axe works just the same. Make sure it also has Telekenesis.<\/p>\n

Pets?<\/h4>\n

Well, there are two main pets you should be using when farming. You can either use the Rabbit pet or the Elephant pet.<\/p>\n

The rabbit pet gives you additional farming XP (up to 30% at lv 100). You only need an epic-rarity rabbit pet for the farming exp boost.<\/p>\n

The elephant pet gives you additional drops (up to 30% chance to get double drops at lv 100). You need a legendary elephant for this perk.<\/p>\n

The elephant is really expensive, so I would recommend going with the rabbit to level up your farming skill.<\/p>\n

Harvesting the Farm<\/h4>\n

When harvesting the farms, there is an optimal speed to be traveling at. If you go too fast, you miss some crops. If you\u2019re going too slow, then you\u2019re wasting time.<\/p>\n

Here\u2019s how to harvest sugarcane optimally:<\/p>\n

When harvesting the sugarcane, harvest it diagonally. Move forward and right at the same time, to stay against the wall. The telekinesis enchantment will automatically harvest the top sugarcane too. Make sure to wiggle your mouse slightly (I prefer up and down) in order to keep getting the Farming XP.<\/p>\n

The optimal speed to harvest sugarcane is 248% speed.<\/strong> You can check your speed in the Skyblock Menu (the nether star). Depending on your connection, you might want it slightly slower. 245-247% speed is honestly close enough. I like using full stacks of obsidian because it’s easier to move around.<\/p>\n

When harvesting with 248% speed, you don\u2019t need to sprint.<\/p>\n

It takes me roughly 17 seconds to harvest 1 row of sugarcane, and about 18 minutes to harvest one floor of it. Note that my farm isn’t full-width, it’s missing probably something like 10 rows. My 2-layer sugarcane farm produces just over 8 enchanted sugarcane per 36-minute harvest. All I’m using is the rabbit.<\/p>\n

But how do you get 248% speed?\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

Of course, you don\u2019t need 248% speed, that\u2019s just optimal. You don\u2019t have to farm optimally. But how I obtain 248% speed is by using an obsidian chestplate and the rest Young Dragon Armor. If you can\u2019t afford that, then you can use speed potions you get from harvesting sugarcane along with the obsidian chestplate and farmer boots. The reason I don\u2019t use farmer boots is because mine make me go too fast, since I\u2019m too high of a farming level.<\/p>\n

The obsidian chestplate gives you +1 speed for every 20 pieces of obsidian you have in your inventory. It sometimes doesn\u2019t give you the speed boost when changing islands, so just take it off and put it back on if that happens.<\/p>\n

With pumpkins, you should also harvest it diagonally. The optimal speed to harvest pumpkins is 268% speed.<\/strong>\u00a0Just add more obsidian into your inventory until you reach that speed.<\/p>\n

It takes me roughly 16 seconds to harvest 1 row of pumpkins.<\/p>\n

Make sure to configure your personal compactors to compact the stuff, because those personal compactors really save you a ton of time.<\/p>\n

If you can afford it, use some Farming XP III potions while doing this, it\u2019ll save you time. You can upgrade Tier 1 and 2 XP potions by using an enchanted redstone lamp in the brewing stand.<\/p>\n
