I spent 3 hours trying to brute-force it, attempting everything you could think of. I tried fizzle spamming, buff spamming, and even setting two characters to spam heals, yet I could not beat him. So, I decided to level up my characters. At the time, they were levels 29-31, and I leveled them up to 34-36. However, I still couldn’t beat the boss when he spammed Kasizzle twice in the same turn. Finally, I tried a new strategy, and I was able to beat the boss in less than 15 minutes. In this article, I’ll share that strategy.

Damaging Garboyle

Wind and Ice attacks are particularly effective against Garboyle. I found that my Mage and Priest dealt the most damage when attacking him with these elements. I highly recommend using the following abilities for damage:

Kacrackle (Ice Element)
Kaswoosh (Wind Element)
These spells take advantage of Garboyle’s weaknesses, allowing you to chip away at his health more efficiently. This is especially useful during phases when you’re not focused on draining his MP or buffing your team.

MP Draining Strategy 1

The strategy I used was MP draining. Garboyle has 420 MP total and casts three spells at the start of the fight: Boom (9 MP), Frizzle (6 MP), and Dazzle (4 MP). Garboyle can act up to three times per turn, which makes him particularly challenging. At most, he wastes 27 MP per turn on these spells. You can speed up this process by having your priest and mage use MP drain, which can waste an additional 15 MP per turn. However, note that MP drain can miss or stop being effective.

Using this strategy, Garboyle will run out of MP within 10 minutes of spamming these abilities on ultra battle speed. During this time, you should repeatedly cast Magic Barrier to minimize the damage from his spells.

When Garboyle’s health enters the yellow phase, he will rely on Inferno and Burning Breath attacks, which don’t consume MP. At this stage, you should spam Kabuff and Insulate to protect your team from physical and breath attacks. Once his health is in the red zone, Garboyle will attempt to spam Kasizzle. However, because he has no MP left, these attempts will waste his turns, making the final phase of the battle much easier.

MP Draining Strategy 2

An alternative strategy is to spam the Kaclang spell. The Hero (or main character) has a spell called Kaclang, which turns allies into stone, making them invincible at the cost of skipping their turns. You can spam Kaclang to safely waste Garboyle’s MP, as you won’t need to worry about healing. However, this method takes longer since you aren’t using MP drain to accelerate the process.

Once Garboyle’s MP is depleted, you can follow the same approach as in Strategy 1: maintain Kabuff and Insulate to handle his physical and breath attacks, and stay vigilant during the final phases of the fight.

Conclusion

If your average level is above 30, I recommend using the first strategy. At this level, you should be able to withstand Garboyle’s Boom and Frizzle without spending all your MP on healing each turn. However, if your average level is below 30, I recommend the second strategy. At lower levels, Boom and Frizzle will deal more damage, and your characters will have less HP, causing you to burn through MP for healing.

I recently came across the Garboyle boss, and boy, was he tough.
