From the new season system and a powerful new agent, Tejo, to buffs, map rotations, and fresh cosmetics, there’s a lot to unpack. Whether you’re excited or nervous about these updates, one thing is clear: the game is evolving, and it’s time to adapt. Let’s break it all down!

Goodbye Episodes

Before this update, every three acts were considered an episode. However, this new update removes the episode system and introduces seasons. Seasons follow a year-long calendar format, with six acts in each season. Despite this change, there will still be a rank reset every three acts.

New Agent

With the kickoff of Season 2025, Tejo, Valorant’s newest initiator, has entered the scene. Tejo has sparked a lot of discussion about his kit and how overpowered he might be. This initiator is a nightmare for Killjoy mains, as he can counter Killjoy’s ultimate with his free ability, anytime and anywhere. If you want to dive deeper into Tejo’s abilities and potential impact, check out this article: Is the New Valorant Agent Tejo Broken?.

Brimstone Buff

Brimstone’s Stim Beacon ability allows players to shoot and reload faster after deploying it. However, players often complained about the lengthy delay in pulling out their weapons after using the ability. Developers addressed this by shortening the time it takes to equip your gun after deploying the Stim Beacon, making it much more practical.

Remake System

Previously, when a player went AFK before the first round started, teams could opt to remake the game at the start of the second round, but all four remaining players had to agree. This led to situations where players would intentionally refuse to remake, sabotaging games by forcing a 4v5. To address this, developers have changed the system to require only three players to agree to a remake, significantly reducing the likelihood of such issues.

Map Rotation

As with the start of every new act, the competitive map pool has changed. Sunset and Ascent are rotating out, while Fracture and Lotus make their return. This decision has been welcomed by pros and streamers alike, many of whom, including former pro and streamer TenZ, believe Ascent has overstayed its welcome and needs significant changes.

New Cosmetic

A brand-new cosmetic type called “Flex” has been added. This cosmetic is accessible to all players through the collections menu. Everyone will receive a default FLEX and STAT-COM in their inventory. You can edit and equip your FLEX from the Spray Wheel section. One key detail about FLEX is that equipping it slows your movement speed compared to holding your knife.

Potential Changes

In a recent developer video outlining the patch changes, the team teased several potential updates coming soon:

Deadlock Sound Sensor ability buffed.

Harbor’s kit getting a revamp.

Nerfing Iso’s kit.

Buffing Neon’s kit.

These changes are still in the early stages of consideration and are not guaranteed to be implemented anytime soon.

This patch marks a significant step forward for Valorant, with plenty of new content and gameplay adjustments to explore.
