Can’t Log In To Hypixel – Disconnected

Recently, I’ve had troubles joining Hypixel. It all started when I was playing Skyblock, getting all of the materials needed for the Great Spook Equipment. However, my game froze, and I was disconnected. Upon trying to reconnect, I see “Logging in…” and “Joining World…”, and then I would immediately get kicked from Hypixel with the message “Disconnected”.

Here’s what happens when I try to log in (note that this isn’t my video, others have run into the same issue as I have):

Looking at latest.log, I am able to see the Guild MoTD, and my friends online can see sirknightj joined and sirknightj left every time I try to reconnect.

Trying to connect to the other Hypixel ip addresses didn’t work:

The strange thing was that when my brother logged into Hypixel on the same PC as me, he’s able to connect just fine.

I removed all my mods 1 by 1 to no avail. I I tried using Badlion client. I even switched to vanilla 1.8.9. When that didn’t work, I went to vanilla 1.18 and 1.19 (the most recent releases of Minecraft).

I figured there was something wrong with my player data on Hypixel’s end. Doing a bit of digging, I found this forum post by one of the Hypixel Admins:

It basically explains that it’s possible for Hypixel to think that my player is stuck in a game, which makes sense as to why my account kept getting disconnected, while my brother’s was able to work just fine. The Admin recommends to connect to stuck.hypixel.net, which should reset my player location. However, stuck.hypixel.net seems to be depreciated, as all it does is redirect you to mc.hypixel.net.

After cutting a ticket to support, I went to bed hoping the issue would fix itself.

The next day (about 16 hours after the issue happened), I tried logging in again, to no avail. I did some more digging on the forums until I found this post.

Then it clicked. I remembered a while ago when I forgot to switch minecraft profiles in the launcher, I would sometimes accidentally kick my brother out of Hypixel and vice versa. Whenever that happened, we were always put in the lobby. This seemed to be a workaround for resetting my location in Hypixel, so I tried it out.

The Solution

Wait for Hypixel to fix the bug. As a temporary workaround, you can open two instances of Minecraft and connect to Hypixel on both of them with a few seconds of delay between them.

Note that if you click join on Minecraft 2 too quickly (less than a second) after clicking join on Minecraft 1, it doesn’t seem to work. The delay appears to be necessary.

If you try too many times in a row, you may run into:

In this case, just wait about 10-15 seconds, then you can try again.

Every time I want to join Hypixel, I need to do this every time. I can’t just “log in normally” like I used to. Note that you can’t actually have two Badlion clients or two Lunar clients open, so you need to use 1 vanilla instance and one of those client instances of Minecraft. This appears to be an issue on Hypixel’s end.

There isn’t much you can do other than wait for Hypixel to fix the issue. For the time being, simply connect using the workaround.

Update – 10/14/2022

Seems like Hypixel has fixed the issue causing this disconnection bug, as I am able to log in normally again. It appears that this patch (which was affecting 1.14+ players) also fixed the bug affecting me and the other 1.8.9 players on the forums.
