Ever since the new mining update (v4) came out and the Golden Dragon gold collection requirement being dropped from 1b to 100m, I’ve wanted to max out the collection.
Since it’s mayor Jerry, it seems like a good time to go for it. I’ve been powder grinding a lot recently to make sure I can get this 100m gold collection as fast as possible. Mayor Cole will rotate in occasionally and during the mining fiesta event he schedules, there is 2x drops from mining.
Powder setup
Currently, my powder tree looks like this. I have 10m mithril powder, which I got from doing the powder mining before the update, and 18m gemstone powder, which I obtained about 6m after this update. I previously had about 12m of it.
Unfortunately, I chose to mine at a bad time. This is right after the gold nerf where gold blocks were nerfed from dropping 6 gold per, to 5, and the price of gold selling from 4 coins, to 3 coins each. This means that rates were significantly reduced from what they were before. But how much?
When I tried this last, I only got 3m gold collection per hour, which was painfully slow. But, that was before I had all this powder and this drill. This was also before this update, so I was using a Bal pet.
Here are my stats while the goblin pet is equipped, and I’m wearing full jaded glossy mineral armor, and my stats when I’m wearing full mineral armor without any mining reforge.
My Setup
For my setup, I’m using an Auspicious Divan’s Drill with the Sunny Side Goblin Omelette. For the pet, I’m using a level 100 Goblin pet, which I bought right before the fiesta started. It cost me 135m for the one with the quick claw.
The Divan’s drill was bought for 2.25b coins at the time. I also put a blue cheese Goblin Omelette onto my 655, which I bought for 142m just before the fiesta. I know, I invested a lot of money just to get 100m gold collection.
But, I figured I could just re-sell it afterwards. Also, it will help my co-op get the gemstone powder faster and also help him reach 100m gold collection faster as well, so it’s a good long-term investment in my mind. I bought the 655 with the Sunny Side and parts included for just over 600m back then.
For the equipment, I was just using full mineral equipment, which I also just bought right before the mining fiesta.
For the armor, I was using the full mineral armor which I got from the very first mining fiesta events. It has depreciated in value a lot since then. It’s not recombobulated or reforged to jaded. It still has the fierce reforge on it.
Fiesta time
As this was my first time actually seriously mining after this update, I wasn’t sure which ability to choose. After looking on YouTube, I saw people using Maniac miner, so I just went with that. And off I went.
Locating the mines of divan was pretty easy. Since I did a lot of powder mining, I had a lot of wishing compasses. Using 2 is enough to help you locate it. It’s a big structure so it’s hard to miss.
For the drill swapping, I just switched to the 655, used the ability, then went back to mining on the Divan’s drill and continued mining as usual. I stuck with the mineral armor the whole time and didn’t swap to my Divan’s.
I did see some other people on YouTube experimenting using Divan’s armor and using Mining Speed boost instead, supposedly with better rates.
I was too lazy to do any armor swapping, so I just stuck with mineral the entire time.
After all that was done, I ended up with 10m gold collection in 2.33 hours of mining. I went from 48m to 58m gold collection.
Analyzing my rates
I wondered why my rates were so bad.
I also noticed afterwards that I had 7m gold in my stash.
After emptying my stash and looking at my sacks, I had mined 665 enchanted gold blocks worth, or just over 17m gold. Doing the math, since my collection only went up by 10m, it looks like the gold that went to my stash doesn’t count to the collection.
That’s a learning for next time. I need to keep my inventory as empty as possible to make the gold doesn’t go to my stash.
Round 2 time
The next Cole during mayor Jerry’s rotation, I decided to also invest in glossy mineral armor. I spent about 480m coins on it.
The armor I bought came recombobulated, and already reforged to jaded. Compared to my previous armor set, the fierce mineral armor, this as a massive upgrade. Each gold block I mined, I would mine +2 with this Glossy mineral set. Also, since it was reforged to jaded, whereas my previous armor was not, it granted me an additional 120 total mining fortune, which was huge.
As usual, I bought this right before the next mining fiesta started. I bought it slightly earlier just to make sure I had some time to prepare for it, unlike the previous time. Probably could have saved some money if I bought it at a different time, but oh well.
Here was my gold collection at the fiesta start.
At the end of it, my gold collection was at 84m. That’s a huge improvement compared to last fiesta.
Also if you can see from the background, there’s about 3.8m gold in the stash. That’s because sometimes the server lagged and the gold doesn’t get compacted right away. Also, when I used the maniac miner ability, I would mine more gold than a single inventory, so there wasn’t much I could do about that, except watch as my stash contents grew more and more as the fiesta continued.
Every time a jerry spawned and dropped a box, I threw it in my backpack so it wouldn’t take up my inventory. My inventory during the mining fiesta only contained my two drills that I used.
I also put hard stone into the personal deleter, because it was just clogging up my inventory way too much.
Checking out the gold in the sacks:
I mined from 1015 gold this time around, before emptying the sack.
After emptying the sack, it went up to 1832 enchanted gold blocks, meaning I mined 1167 gold blocks during this fiesta.
This is a huge improvement from the 665 enchanted gold blocks I mined last time.
This single upgrade increased my rates by about 45%, which is huge.
Can’t wait to reach 100m gold collection hopefully by the next fiesta.
How to empty sacks with millions of items in it?
For me, I upgraded my mining sack capacity.
Afterwards, I can simply use the quick crafting menu to craft all the gold ingots to enchanted gold. I can access it by using:
/recipe enchanted gold
Then, use the Insert into Sacks button in the stash menu. There is currently no command for this. You can quick-open this stash menu however by using the command:
/viewstash material
This was much faster than using the /pickupstash
command or spam-clicking on the gold from the stash to fill the inventory. Each inventory only can hold 2240 items.
Also, the admins made a very annoying cooldown for /pickupstash, so if you actually tried to do that, it would actually take you forever.
Command Failed: This command is on cooldown! Try again in about a second!
It took me about 45 minutes to empty the stash with 7m items. This could be sped up if I upgraded my sack size even larger or bought more sacks.
One of my biggest complaints is why I can’t pre-set the crafting amount or save it. I need to manually type in the amount each time, which is a huge pain. Also, there isn’t a way for me to go directly to the recipe page itself, I need to also go through the search menu as well.
