Episode 10 is coming soon and will be the first update of the new year. This update is set to bring huge changes, and new content to the game. While we wait for the update, here is everything you should know about the update so far.
Map Pool Changes
The competitive map pool will change, removing the maps Ascent and Sunset will be taken out and replaced with Lotus and Fracture. We haven’t seen Fracture since Episode 7 which was over a year ago. Many streamers and pros have voiced their opinions, including ex pro Tenz who says that maps like Ascent needed to be rotated out due to “the same meta” being used over and over. Tenz also said that he can’t wait for Fracture and actually enjoyed the map.
New Valorant Agent
Along with the new Episode, we will also be getting a new agent. This agent is named Tejo and is from Columbia, and will take on the roll of an initiator. Not much is known about the Tejo’s abilities, other than one of them is called “Striking Distance” that shoots a projectile.
Rank Reset
Like every other episode, your competitive rank will reset, giving you a chance to climb the ranks again. This is a chance for a fresh start. I would recommend playing competitive a few weeks after the reset because most people will drop a bunch of ranks, which means that you will be facing people that were a much higher rank than you last act. That could be a huge problem, so the only way to avoid that is people settle back into their ranks by giving them time. If you have a hard time ranking up, I would check out this article here: These Tips Got Me to Immortal – Valorant.
Apart from those, the only other things we should be expecting is bug fixes and QOL changes. This next episode should be interesting and fun, good luck to you competitive players.
