Wow! Fire Emblem Heroes has been around for 5 years already. Today is the 5th anniversary. How time flies by so quickly. Come to think of it, I’ve been playing this game for that long. It doesn’t mean that FEH is the best game out there, it just means that this is the game I’ve played the longest out of all games that I played.
Let’s see what Intelligent Systems have in store for us this year. Did they learn from their past mistakes? Do they include new controversies this year?
The answer is they did learn from their past mistakes. No new controversies this year. After 4 years of bad anniversaries, I somehow felt relieved when I saw the annoucement. This year marks the very first time that FEH anniversary doesn’t feel bad. So, judging by all the bad anniversary they have, this year is the best one so far.
Free random 5 star Special Hero
Same as any other year before this, they still insist on giving us random 5 star. They are so stubborn on this front. There are more than sixty 5 star heroes available. Not only that, there 2 levels of randomization. Color randomization and hero randomization. So, depending on your luck, you may or may not get the color you want from your summoning session. Letting players to choose the 5 star hero as a gift is a lot better than getting random. This game is about playing with favorite heroes.
Quests and Gifts
Better than before, but it could be better. They talked about lots of 5s, but from the list, we can clearly see they are giving 41 orbs and 2 celestial stones. Why not make it similar to the others? such as 55 orbs and 5 celestial stones?
In order to get all of these gifts, you’ll have to login and complete all of the quests and special maps games.
5th anniversary Hero Fest
We have Hero Fest every single year. They give 10 tickets this year as shown in the above picture. The other 5 tickets from tempest trial quests are for “Here with Me Special Heroes” banner.
Grand Hero Party
There are 14 GHBs. We can get 1 more copy of each grand hero battle characters.
A hero rises event
Same as last year. No improvements. Judging by the pictures, it seems they are promoting all greens. We’ll get the winner heroes at some point and get to do another voting gauntlet style and there’ll be special banner to summon the top 4 heroes. The same as last year.
Game Update
IS also annouce game update along with the anniversary annoucement.
- More 5 stars of early gen heroes are dropping to the 4 star special pool
- New 4 stars special seasonal pool. Seasonal 5 star heroes will start appearing as 4 star special too.
- More weekly revival banner. 2 per week now. Yay! This means, more free chance of getting more heroes
- New summoner duel S game mode. Currently unknown on how the gameplay is going to be
- Some change to Heroes journey game mode
All in all, it’s a very good announcement with no controversies.
Correct Move?
Judging by the latest revenue, it seems that IS is doing the right move. Revenue went up in January. It’s been a long time since FEH’s revenue is more than 3.5 億. The last time they were at that level was in August 2019.
Perhaps players are really subscribing to FEH pass in order to take advantage of the new FEH pass only spark feature. I’m not sure if players are really subscribing to FEH pass due to the new spark feature or simply current FEH pass users are purchasing more orbs to take advantage of the new spark feature. My guess is the later part. At least, I don’t see F2P purchasing FEH pass. Well, I could be wrong.
Based on their revenue, it looks like that Fire Emblem Heroes is going to be around at least a few more years.
